Mammography camp in association with Poornasudha cancer foundation held in the month of September 2016, was helpful in successfully creating awareness and erasing the stigma towards breast cancer screening, among women from different income groups. Around 38 women of different age group (35yrs- 60 yrs) took advantage at the facility at their doorstep.
OUTCOME-The camp catered to 30 low income group women who were mainly housekeeping staff and maids of Heritage and NCC apartments. 8 women who could afford the cost of the test also were screened. Breast Cancer screening can reduce the risk by early screening. All the reports of the screened women did not require any further treatment. So it was a happy beginning towards healthy living.
The women were given an awareness talk by Dr Sreedevi Priyadarsini and Ms Meenakshi Umarji as they registered for screening. Ms Meenakshi Umarji is a breast cancer survivor herself and was present almost till the finish of the camp sharing her experiences and why breast cancer screening is important. Our sincere thanks to her.
Team of Rotarians headed by Secretary Rtn Rashmi Tanksali conducted this camp in true motto of service to Humanity.
Overall the camp was a huge success and well appreciated by camp co-ordinator Ms Prathima . She was happy with the response and hope to conduct this camp on annual basis.
